Punch Happy

We got a rain day today because of all the flooding, so while my kids are napping I get some stamping time! We have a baby shower coming up at work, so this is what I came up with. I LOVE making baby cards. All of these little guys were made with SU! punch pieces. Fun, huh?

Tweeting for a Cause

Many of you have heard by now of the heartbreaking loss of little Maddie Spohr. Maddie's mama was in the process of raising money for the March of Dimes walk in honor of her NICU survivor - but now it will be a walk in her memory.

Hugh Jackman has offered to donate a large sum of money to the cause that can convince him they deserve it - but they have to do it via Twitter. Click here for the information. If you would like to join this effort to raise money for March of Dimes, copy and paste this to your twitter stream:

RT @mamaspohr: RT @RealHughJackman PLEASE donate your $100k to March of Dimes in honor of my baby #Maddie http://tinyurl.com/dnewtk

Thank you for your support.

The rain, rain, rain, came down, down, down...

That river up to my yard used to be my street. I don't think we have any empty honey pots in which to float away to safety.

Conversations with Bradley

On the way home from day care yesterday we saw several school buses...

Bradley: Ooh! A little bus! I love the little buses.

Me: Why?

Bradley: Because they are little and cute. And *I* am little and cute.

Me: Well, that is certainly true!

At least I don't have to worry about low self esteem!

Mmm, cupcake!

My friend's daughter is turning one and her party is tomorrow. So, since the kids and I have pretty much done nothing but snuggle today I figured I'd better get up and make her a card!
I wanted to make a cupcake, and figuring out how to make my own took a while. Here is what I finally came up with...

I used my Coluzzle circle cutter to do the frosting and then cut off a bit and hit it with my SU! scallop edge punch. I ran a piece of card stock through my crimper and free handed the angle cuts. I inked everything all up and stuck it together. I used some pink Tiny Twinkles on the cupcake to give it some bling, and topped it with an SU! felt flower and SU! button. The colors are Pink Pirouette, Almost Amethyst, and Certainly Celery. Oh, I also ran that one layer through my Sew Crafty Mini sewing machine (I love that tool!).

What do you think? I hope her mama will like it! :)

Almost Easter!

And boy am I ready for a rest! This week is a short week, but we have the 8th Grade Math TAKS on Tuesday. I think it's going to go smoothly, though, and won't be as bad as the final round of tests the last week of April.

I really haven't had much time for anything but family and school lately. But, I did manage to stamp out these little cuties for Chloe and Bradley's teachers. I made them with scraps - so I had several different colors. This little guy is from the SU! set A Good Egg and he just lends himself perfectly to paper piecing. I stamped him on water color paper and used my SU! inks and a Blender Pen to color him. The button is from my collection (addiction). :)

My brave little man

Things have not quite settled down over here. Bradley started running a fever on Friday and it didn't quit until Monday evening. We kept him home Monday and Tuesday, and he finally got to go back to school yesterday. My sister's family is still trying to recover (the funeral was Saturday and was a simply lovely tribute to Ray's quiet, but loving, life).

I've been incredibly busy at work, and today I was trying to do about 4 things at once when I heard my desk phone ringing. I was with someone, so I ignored it. Then my wall phone rang - "Mrs. Cross, can you please take a call - it's your day care. Your son has been injured." *chills* I got to my phone and called Robbyn immediately.

"Bradley fell, and he's okay - but we really think he's going to need stitches."

I'm so blessed to have family very close by, so my brother-in-law was able to be at the day care (where his baby goes, too) in less than 5 minutes to get Bradley and rush him to the Urgent Care Center (where my sister is the charge nurse). They got Bradley wrapped up like a burrito and were ready to work on him less than 45 minutes after he fell. At first the doctor thought they might be able to glue it, but he decided that a stitch would be more secure. He did the middle one and then had to help someone else, so my sister did the two end stitches.

And my little guy is so brave - he didn't even cry!! My mom met them up at the Urgent Care and brought our trooper back home to recuperate. And I was able to stay at work to get some important things done since the next TAKS test is next week. My brother is going to stay with him tomorrow. I don't know what on earth I would do without them.

The stitches should be in for a week or so and then he'll be back on the scooter ready to tackle the world. Hopefully he'll be wearing a helmet.
